COVID-19 Updates

At Chatime, we’re working diligently to provide a safe environment for our guests and team members and operating responsibly. We are prepared for all possible situations, including a positive test for COVID-19 in our stores. If this occurs, we have consulted best practices and worked with public health to ensure that we follow all the proper steps including public notification, full store cleaning and sanitization and ensuring that all exposed staff complete the fully recommended 14 day self isolation.

In all of our stores, we have rigorous safety procedures including but not limited to requiring our team members all wear masks and frequently wash/sanitize their hands and fully wash their uniform after each shift. In addition, we have asked that all guests in all of our stores across Ontario and British Columbia wear masks.

For transparency, we will post any updates below if there is a positive COVID-19 case in any of our location within the last 15 days along with any pertinent details. All media inquiries should be sent to feedback@chatime.ca.

COVID-19 Cases

Tuesday, July 7, 2020

Beginning July 7, 2020, all staff and guests entering or remaining in Chatime stores are required to wear a mask or face covering which covers the nose, mouth and chin! Forgot yours? Please purchase one for $0.50 (+tax) and let our tearistas know at check-out!

Temporary removal of the mask is permitted where necessary for the purposes of receiving services. The following persons are exempted from requiring a mask or face covering and will not be required to provide proof of such exemption:

  • Children under two years of age
  • Persons with an underlying medical condition which inhibits their ability to wear a mask
    or face covering
  • Persons who are unable to place, remove or use a mask or face covering without
    assistance
  • Employees and operators of Chatime, in a designed area not for public access, or within or
    behind a physical barrier
  • Persons who are reasonably accommodated by not wearing a mask or face covering under
    the Ontario Human Rights Code

Thank you for your understanding during these times and helping ensure that every guest can have a positive and safe Chatime experience!

To our guests,

During this time, we want to start by acknowledging the incredible efforts of our store owners and staff who work so hard to make delicious tea drinks for our guests.

As we begin planning for the next phase of COVID19 – “recovery”, the health and safety of our partners, staff and our guests continues to remain a top priority for us. As we have done throughout the entirety of this pandemic, we will continue to take direction from government guidelines and public health experts to guide our decisions in the reopening of our stores.

As part of our process to thoughtfully and methodically put a plan in place in anticipation of the return of our guests to our stores, in addition to ensuring the continued implementation of our previously announced measures, we will deploy these next level measures across all Chatime stores in Ontario and British Columbia:

  • Facial coverings: All our tearistas will be wearing face masks if they are working at the store to help prevent the spread of germs.
  • Hand Sanitizer: Please feel free to use our complimentary hand sanitizer near our POS machines.
  • Plexi-shields: All stores are required to have plexi-shields installed at the POS to help prevent the spread of germs.
  • Social Distancing Stickers: Social distancing markings will be on the floor to aid in the practice of social distancing. These graphics are applied 6 feet apart from each other.
  • Store Signage: Additional signage will be provided to help maintain a safe environment for everyone while their visit to our stores. This includes window signage stating a maximum capacity of guests in store at a time.
  • There will continue to be a heavy emphasis on mobile ordering, pickup and cashless payments as we continue to ease back into business pre-COVID.

We will continue to comply with the Ontario and British Columbia government’s strict public health measure and will operate safely during the transition period back into business-as-usual.

We thank you for your patience and hard work in ensuring every guest can have a positive Chatime experience! We sincerely look forward to seeing you again in our store soon!

As we continue to monitor the rapidly changing public health environment, we have received notice that restaurants can stay open and so Chatime will continue to do so safely and responsible, per government recommendations.

All Chatime stores will focus on take-out and delivery service (where available) across Ontario and select stores in British Columbia. In-restaurant dining rooms will continue to be closed until further notice.

For stores that remain open, we have added new measures to ensure safe social distancing, effective immediately:

  • All stores will now have designated markings to help maintain a distance of six feet
  • All stores will now be moving to cashless to limit contact, only debit/credit cards will be accepted
  • Select stores will be moving to a delivery-only model to further comply with social distancing. Please check our locations page at www.chatime.ca for the latest updates on store hours.

We encourage everyone to stay home and order Chatime via delivery. For those not currently using Uber Eats or DoorDash, we are working hard to add Chatime onto more delivery platforms so it becomes more accessible and convenient for you to enjoy your favourite drinks.

Thank you and stay safe!

Dear Chatimers,

I write this to you now at a very difficult and unsettling time for all of us as we grapple with the effects of COVID-19. Things continue to move fast and change quickly and we are doing our very best to navigate these unprecedented circumstances with the health and well-being of our Chatimers, franchise partners, tearistas and head office staff being top of mind.

It won’t be business as usual but you will be able to count on us. We are working hard to ensure that your Chatime bubble tea is delivered to you and I would like to offer my deepest gratitude and appreciation to our tearistas, head office staff and our franchise partners that continue to work during this dynamic situation and are the hearts and faces of everything we do and stand for.

Because of their dedication, many of our stores are still open for pick-up/takeout though we highly encourage you to order via our many delivery partners including UberEats, DoorDash and other new and exciting platforms that we will be announcing soon. In the meantime, we would like to share a limited time offer of $3 Off Any Orders of $25+ on UberEats to all Chatimers as a way of saying thank you for your support during this time.

Our Chatime team would always like to assure you that we have always strived to maintain the highest possible standards of hygiene while providing you with the freshly brewed, high quality bubble teas and food that you’ve come to expect whenever you visit one of our locations.

We sincerely thank all of you for your continued support and understanding soon.

Be Safe, Be Smart, Be Kind.

To all of our loyal customers,

The health and safety of our customers, store owners and staff continue to be our number one priority. We have been closely monitoring COVID-19 and are navigating this situation under the guidance of government and relevant authorities and adapting as new information becomes available. We are taking necessary precautions and active measures to mitigate the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Last week, we deployed measures to help prevent the outbreak of COVID-19, including pausing the acceptance of re-useable cups and increased sanitization efforts. With consideration of the most recent recommendations from the Ontario Provincial and Toronto Municipal to close restaurants and bars, (with the exception of take-out and delivery), we will deploy these next levels of measures across all Chatime stores in Ontario:

• Closing off dining area, washroom and surrounding area in efforts to mitigate the chance of spread
• Removal of the straw and napkin dispenser from the drink pick-up area
• Hand sanitizer will be made available at the POS for customers to use

Please refer to chatime.ca for updates and to find your closest available location. We encourage you to continue enjoying your favourite Chatime drinks by having it delivered to your home through online delivery platforms!

While we are currently maintaining regular operations in most of our stores in Ontario, our stores may continuously adapt the store experience to prevent further spread of COVID19. We are ready to react if conditions change and generally anticipate store disruption to be temporary. Don't panic. Be prepared, be supportive, and be kind. We want to thank you for doing your part.

Working together, we will keep each other safe and healthy!
